Lovely holiday

Lovely down south holiday - thoroughly enjoyed. Heading home now,
looking forward to grafting myself back into the usual.

Starting at the new office on Tuesday. Hm! Maybe not so usual. A
change is as good as a holiday, they say, and this week, we'll have
both. :)

What I did this weekend 5/5

Back in May, I met up with a guy through my cousin - a local dj and
producer, working on his first solo electronic album. He was looking
for a singer, I was looking for a song - how convenient!

Today, four months later, we hit a studio to record crisp sounds on
some fancy equipment. The walls were carpeted and padded, the mic
unforgiving. It was my first time and everyone was really gentle.

Mind-blowing - not just today but the whole experience in general. I
never knew that music takes so much work, or that singing requires so
much energy. It's a long way from stumbly evening karaoke.

Tonight, I'm a bit sick. Sore throat, stuffy head, perhaps too much
paracetamol in my system. It's time for bed. Goodnight. :)

What I did this weekend 4/5

Saw District 9. Loved it - anyone out there who didn't?

The reasons to like it, I feel, are self-evident, so'd just like to
say that I also really enjoyed the saffa accents.

Went to wob's (twitter.com/bowtonos) house after for beer and shouting
at the xbox, fixed dos4gw's (twitter.com/dos4gw) phone because I'm a
lifestyle engineer, and took a pic of wob's feet not touching the
ground.

Epic night yeah.

What I did this weekend 3/5

Went to Horizon and Scitech on Saturday morning. Wow, such excitement!

It wasn't all that exciting, actually, but it was lovely to
anticipate, to feel dizzy from the omni screen and to play carefree
with the science. The fun displays I remembered are gone - no plastic
tongue, no finger buzzer, and when did they remove the spinning tunnel?

The baby chickens were still there, though, and one looked mighty
exhausted after breaking through her shell. What will happen to her
when she grows up, I wonder? Will she produce future eggs for the
incubator, or find a way into my tummy on a Friday night?

Hit the pub afterwards to work off all that learning, and talk about
watching District 9.

What I did this weekend 2/5

Found a shirt in my wardrobe; it's been my favourite for the last
couple of years. It's not in bad condition, but I can't bring myself
to wear it, just doesn't feel familiar.

Strange how sometimes you just 'grow out' of something. For no reason,
with no malice - old needs and likes simply evaporate, and old toys,
clothes and habits with them.

I'm in a throwy-outy mood at the moment, and a buyey-newy-thingsy
headspace too. Sadly, the havey-lotsof-money state of being is nowhere
to be found.

But it's all about flux, isn't it? Perhaps if I create enough space in
my heart and purse, the universe will fill it with good fortune. (AM I
RITE?)

Anyway, old shirt is gone now.

Bye bye, shirt!

What I did this weekend 1/5

A colleague asked on Friday whether I was up to much this weekend. I
promptly answered no, then realised that YES, I was in fact, up to much.

It all began on Friday afternoon, after work, feeling no mood for beer
after a relentless week; belly bursting with an original KFC burger,
chips and a popcorn chicken snack box, yet still hungering for more.

People often remark that they don't crave KFC, or that it's their most
regretted choice of meal. For me, though, it's simply unsatisfying in
that I can eat twice what I would eat from any other fast food store
yet still wish for another round. Is there some magic desire dust in
that secret 11 herbs and spices mix? One can only speculate.

Another Friday as a guest at the new Subi office. My last, as my team
finally moves this week.

Played some pool, helped shift some bags around the new office, then
went home.

Slow start sunday

Slow start to this Sunday morning. Want to get up, want to blow my
nose and wash my face, and maybe play some AD 1404, but nooo... This
bed just has to be sooo comfy.

The photo for this blogpost is of one of the break rooms at work, in
the shiny new office. Got 2 more weeks before my team moves in there
and I get to eat at kfc and wagamama all the bloody time! :D

Also means I have to get up earlier in the morning and try to look a
bit more presentable. It's nice to look nice if your surroundings are
nice. You blend in better so predators don't notice you, and you can
sneak up on your prey.

Thinking about holidays. Have had to give Melbourne with mates a miss
cos it's too much money too soon, and I've already done Melbourne
twice in the last year. Contemplating maybe a beach holiday -
yesterday I heard it's really cheap to get to somewhere beachy. Have
not stopped thinking about fresh fish and coconuts since.

Making teriyaki beef rice bowl tonight. Really proud of learning
teriyaki - carn't believe how simple it is. Will post a recipe on my
nibbledish when I can.

Going to get up now. Time for tea!

Forgot to tag off the other day after the train ride. Paid $9 for a 2-

How's about the weather

Having trouble getting to sleep. So very tired but my head is abuzz
most evenings. Nothing's wrong and I'm less stressed lately. Maybe
it's the upswing from winter to summer?

Oh how I'm looking forward to summer. I've just spent my money on
jumpers and warm pants but oh how I'd keep them on the shelf for some
good beach.

I know we all laugh at how trite it is to talk about the weather, but
I love it. I love to daydream about warm blankets indoors when it
rains, hot hot BBQ burgers and cold cold beer on a warm day. Even if
it's just small talk, sometimes I think the elevator patrons really
beam a little at the thought of nice weather.

I would like to try cold soba, and have an iced cappucino. Maybe
loiter at Hamelin bay under a bright cobalt sky and chicken club
sandwich with ranch.

All in good time, though. It's sleep time now.

Say hello to my little friend
