Perth, yeah!

Might buy some art

No Singapore

Passport trouble last night. Didn't make it out of the country. No
Singapore :( BUT! Going to make the most of our time off. Starting
with a huge plate of sushi.

It's poo not getting to fly off. But am rather excited about getting
real free time. :)

Little terrarium: bug report

The cheeky fucker!! He ate a bug when I wasn't looking!

Got home last night to find some of his traps wide open, one
containing the carcass of an unfortunate delicious midgey.

Have brought him in to work for some sun. :) Come say hi if you're in
the building. His name is Harvey Bugman.

Little terrarium: plant in a cup

Fresh cup of garden - yay!

Lessons for next time:

- get long forceps
- use big dish so you don't get soil ALL OVER THE FLOOR
- need surgical gloves for precision fiddling
- get surgical scissors instead of blunt 10 year old kids craft scissors
- pick an easier plant next time :(
- pick easier container next time

I hope this little guy survives. Luckily, Venus flytraps don't need
rich soil. I reckon if I can just get him a couple bugs, he might have
enough energy to take root.

But of course, there are no bugs when you need them. :| garr.

Little terrarium: hungry hungry

This is the flora I've chosen for my little terrarium. He's a Venus
flytrap, a bug-eater - but so far, he's not eaten any bugs. Oh, maybe
one but I can't remember if that particular trap was already shut when
I got him.

Went down to the riverside this arvo for a sitdown, regretted
instantly not being more organized, not brought him with. There were
massive clouds of bugs!! What a feast he would have had. :( poor
hungry plant.

I'm having second thoughts about this. I don't actually like Venus
flytraps. They're gross and they freak me out. But the whole point of
this is to expand my horizons and not be such a sissy about dirt and
plants, so... Washed the cup and stones today. Setup and transplanting
should happen soon. Just need a bit more time to work up the balls. :|

Be safe, fellas

Aww.

Wee!

Little terrarium: substrate

Giant fucking bag of substrate, $15.

If anyone else is making a cup garden, have some. :)

Little terrarium: longing to be filled

Little Terrarium

I am building a terrarium. I found a lovely little one on the Internet
and am curious to build my own. Don't know much about gardening;
usually, I have two black thumbs. But I would like to try.

Yesterday, I purchased a little brandy balloon from a nearby antique
shop. Tonight, as I fall asleep, I will imagine all the lovely things
it could hold.

Little Terrarium, I hope you will be beautiful. :)

ioiojooijoijijij,ijij (aka. friday night nothings)

There is a drunk, hairy person reading over my shoulder as I type this. His name is Chris, and he just got back from an office party, where he was one of the evening's photographers. He took 10GB of photos this evening, and has come home to a chilli con carne and brown rice dinner.

On this cosy Friday night, four farty 20-somethings are sitting around a tv, playing Forza Motorsport 3 and eating chewy potato chips. It is a good night.

Have had a deliberately uneventful last couple of weeks. Been watching SO MUCH DEXTER OH MY GOD. What I really like about the show is how it looks at what it means to be normal, to fit in, to live your own life, to identify and accept your own morals as yours. You can probably tell I'm having to check myself every so often for sympathising with a sociopath.

In "sandy makes stuff" news, the music project I've been working on has been going well. Been relaxed about it lately. Hope to have something to show for it soon. Really excited to show my folks - who've been so pro-music at me all my life.

Sent a small bundle of mélange zine to Format Zine Shop in Adelaide. They should get there in a couple of weeks - if anyone sees them, can you please send me a picture? :))

HJTT^GH <--- hairy person mashing keyboard

Just finished a mini-zine for fellow writers with writer's block. It's called marbles, my collection of exercises for getting un-stuck - either on the spot or to help with longer-term creative thinking. Hope it helps!

Right, I'm off now to surf more internet and watch more videogame racing. Good evening. :)

Recent headlines n shit

Recent headlines n shit:

1. Finished the first draft of a new zine tonight. Trying out some new
things in indesign and learning a bit about art history too. My
spatial rotation is crap -takes bloody ages to figure out what should
be upside down, back to front, what what. Oh to be a boy for just five
minutes, this would make so much more sense.

2. Said bye bye to little huge Samson! He's gone back to live with his
mother (wittybanter.net). The little ginger is back to being king of
the couch. He may find himself with another brother soon.

3. The boss is back! Yayyyyy! Very relieved to have someone to refer
to. Thinking for myself is fun, but having to do it constantly, in
real time, was taxing. Would have to work up to a future with it, I
think. Grow up a bit more.

4. Getting excited about the coming indoor football season. Been
trying out a few new things lately, like having a V before the game.
Need to start having a bigger breakfast and more water alongside it to
get the real benefit, I think. Must research some more.

5. Made a curry tonight. AAARGH and forgot to put it away.
Ngggrhfuggh. Going now. Bye.

Lunch at cafe vero

Waiting out the post office queue at cafe vero in subi. Feeling plum
ticketed out by the stair climb and the photoshoot.

Oh, the photoshoot~ Got to homebase at 3:30 and spent an age in the
makeup chair getting puffed and brushed and powdered.

Didn't get any photos of the impressive tableful spread of supplies
and equipment, but hopefully our photographer Rachel will give us
something to show off. :)

Hit the beach just before sunset - IT WAS FREEZING. Cold wind and sea
spray, wee!

We struck some cheesy poses, made some suave faces, and to punish us
for our hilarity, the ocean dumped a big wave down my back halfway
through. IT WAS FREEZING EVEN MORE.

Was most grateful for a hot shower and hot dinner last night.

And now here I am this afternoon, staring at the corner of acrylic on
linen while chowing down on a penne & bacon bits salad.

Come on, post office.

Belly ache

The boss man at work is on leave, I've been the stunt double in his
absence. I can't say just yet whether management is for me - it's nice
to help smooth things over so people can get on with their business (I
like that part), but nothing really bad has come up in the last week.
Perhaps it would all feel different in the face of something really
challenging.

Hayfever's set in. This sucks balls. Picked up the bestest
antihistamine I could find, but that only helps so much in a dusty
office and cat-encrusted home. :o(

I've spent the whole week looking forward to the BankWest stair climb,
which happened today at 8:52am.

Seriously, I had to wake up at 7:30 today; ON A SUNDAY. :[ The timer
must have been busted too, cos it reckons I finished in 7:01. Gotta
wait til next week to find out the real time.

The upside to all this is that it's now 10:45am and I've eaten a yummy
grubby hungry jack's muffin & hashbrown, and I have the rest of the
day to be a lout.

^______^ WEEEEEEE!

Ah. Oh. Not the rest of the day, but a few hours at least. There's a
photoshoot on this arvo for a music project I'm working on. We're
going to the beach; the cold, windy beach of australia's west coast.
If you're even slightly theist, would you do me a solid and pray for
heat and sunshine? Plz.

Belly aches. Very tired, bit delirious. Neck smells like sport, time
for a shower. Bye bye.

The last bread

This one's for me! :)
